The withholding of income tax has enabled theState to collect two billion additional euros, affirmed the Minister of Action and Public Accounts, Wednesday, September 25. This sum represents 0.1% of France’s GDP.

The introduction of the withholding tax on income has enabled the State to collect “Two billion euros additional in the coffers (…) without increasing the tax rate of the French”, said on France Inter Gérald Darmanin, Minister of Action and Public Accounts, Wednesday, September 25.

“This reform was successful by officials of the Ministry of Public Finance, and it will not be a billion more [dans les caisses de l’Etat], it will be two! This is very good news, and this without increasing the French tax rate ”, continued Gérald Darmanin.

“We made a reform which brings more money into the state coffers”, added the Minister of Action and Public Accounts, explaining that the two billion euros came from better tax collection, from those “Who should have paid the tax but who were defrauding, or who were administrative phobic.” These two billion additional euros represent 0.1% of the GDP of France, that is to say “A lot, a lot of money”, concluded Gérald Darmanin
