The decision was taken by the Ministry of the Economy during a meeting in Bercy with representatives of food brands and supermarkets.
The Ministry of the Economy indicated Monday, November 2, in the afternoon, to grant a “Tolerance until Wednesday” so that supermarkets close the shelves of non-essential products. This concerns in particular the clothing, toys, furniture, flowers and culture departments.
New decisions by November 12
According to information from France Inter, the perfume, hygiene and beauty departments of supermarkets may however remain open, as will the childcare, hardware and stationery departments. This was decided during a meeting in Bercy with representatives of food brands and supermarkets.

The Minister of the Economy will continue to receive the associations of traders in the coming days. Representatives of the toy federation will be received Tuesday morning. The objective is to be able to make new proposals on the opening or closing of departments and stores by November 12, depending on the evolution of the health situation.
